Columbus Leaves Spain- 1492

Q: Christopher Columbus, why did you leave Spain?

A: I left Spain in search of land on August 3, 1492. I sailed west with three ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. We had good weather but we could not see land for a very long time. Finally on October 12th we spotted land.  I spent many months searching the islands of Carribbean. We found people who we then named "Indians". We returned to Spain in 1493 and we were treated like heros.
