Axis Age/Golden Age in Greece - 479-431 B.C.E

Q: Pericles, what did you bring to the Golden age?

A: I promoted the arts and literature, which I believe is necessary for a civilization. I also brought science and philosophy. (460-429 BCE)

Q: Socrates, how did you contribute?

A: I was an Athenian stonemason and philosopher and I had a student named Plato. I asked people about their beliefs and question them with a method we now call the Socratic method. People of Athens did not appreciate me questioning them but I believed it helped them seek self-knowledge and truth. I was put to trail and forced to drink poison, which caused my death. ( 469-399 BCE)
